Look Mama, we made it!!

Last week, we had our official Kido-versary! We turned one! There are so many feelings surrounding this milestone, but the one that trumps all the others is - PRIDE. While caring for an infant, I started this company. And now, I've managed to keep the machine going through the fatigue of pregnancy and running after a busy toddler. It has been a lot of work, but it has also been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Through Kido, we have created a community of parents who all see something better for their kids than what's currently being sold to them in the media and the big brand stores. In connection with Currency Exchange Cafe (Bing) and 57th Street Books, we started a monthly South Side Story Time, which focuses on books and music that highlight the experiences of children/people of color. We've had families come all the way from Northwest Indiana to share their time with us, and it continues to be something I'm very proud of. We had an immensely successful clothing drive for Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas. We were able to ship boxes and boxes of kid's clothing, diapers, and other essentials with the help of our generous kido family. We are now available in FOUR different stores, and we held our first pop-up at Boombox Chatham, which gave us a preview into what having our own retail space would look like.

There have been so many incredible experiences that have come with this first year of entrepreneurship. I look forward to fostering new friendships with parents, continuing to learn about smart business practices, and having fun with the process of creating new designs. Thank you so much for your support this year, and I hope to see more of you in the next!
